Pár prvních poznatků k Indii

CZECH

Zdravim z Indie:-)

:-) Edit: jo a zatim necham i takhle rozhaseny format, protoze uz z toho tabletu silim!

Treba by tahle mantra mohla fungovat i potom.

Mozna bych uvitala vic soucasnych temat aproblemu + k tomu pak delsi diskuzi.

Tak, pro dnesek vse.

My First Impressions

ENGLISH

Eng: Time flies so fast here in India and I have nearly no time for writing. We are quite busy since the schedule is full of activities and trips. Thats great, no complaints, just sometimes it is tiring. This afternoon is free so I can finally write something more. :-) So here are few notes about India I have in my mind right now. :-)

- In general, everything is way better than I expected. According to the people who were traveling before the summer school, other cities are completely different, worse than Bhubaneswar. So I guess we will have another culture shock once we step out from Varanasi airport building.

- Yes, most of the clichés about India are here. Cows and dogs everywhere, trash everywhere, chaotic traffic and many Indians who want picture with you. The last point is sometimes very uncomfortable because it is little bit annoying. Some people do not ask you at all but just come near to you and click a selfie. I still wonder what is the meaning of this, especially this selfie-hunt. I imagine they add it to Facebook or Instagram with comment like: "Look, my new friend. We had a nice time together today in Konark" and there is this person with half-of-my-face that looks very angry. I was having a great time watching people taking "secret" photos with other members of our group, mostly the blond ones. It is funny but still disrespectful. Not all of them are like that of course. In Konark I met a group of cute old ladies and they were so sweet and friendly that I had no problem to take a picture with them.

- The atmosphere in University campus and in surrounding streets is quite relaxed even though the rest of this country (Odisha) is still very conservative. I also ve seen many couples holding hands which for us is normal but I though this is still not so openly presented here.

- I am also surprised that the movies are sometimes very true, especially when it comes to characters. :D People in shops, teachers, families etc.

- I was very curious what the lectures will be like and most of them are really good. Maybe I would like to know more about current issues and to have a discussion about it. Last week we had a chance to slightly discuss current educational problems and the "intolerance" issue with one professor and I really appreciate his openness as it is not common.

The people who are taking care of us are very nice and helpful. They are really doing their best and they want us to really enjoy it. It is not always easy as you can imagine some of my Czech schoolmates are more difficult to deal with and they have requests and complains. :-)

It s all for today.
